Black female anime characters or female anime characters with dark skin?
Question by War_Pisces: Black female anime characters or female anime characters with dark skin?
I’ve been to a convention, but I never got a good cosplay
The ones I know:
Yuroichi from Bleach- top choice right now
(the rest I had to google to be honest)
Urd from Ah my goddess
Aisha from outlaw star
Anthy from Utena
Black Rose from .//Hack
Kuea, from elemental Gelade
Road, from D.Gray Man:
Telos from Xenosaga
This is a pic from my deviantArt account to show you the shading of my skin. And yes, the hair and glasses are fake- it was for fun on my deviantArt profile: http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/189/1/d/new_id_by_the_tomahto_icon-d3lfahu.jpg
And I am half Korean ![]()
I like Tobi so far
Lost Pheonix: I know I can, but I want to cosplay and look very similar to the character since I’m I hate seeing the crappy cosplayers ![]()

And Lost Pheonix, it’s not the point of my question
I mean I’ve considered cosplaying as Zatsune Miku, Hagane Miku, and Sayaka Miki doesn’t seem like a bad choice either.

pleaaase don’t limit yourself! go as whoever you want to! there are so many black anime fans that are afraid of cosplaying because of their skin tone. and to be honest, i don’t think you should be.
people at anime cons aren’t as judgmental about race, or disability as people outside of cons. im black, and i cosplay more light skinned characters than black characters. actually, now that i think about it, yoruichi was the only dark skinned character i ever cosplayed. and that was my FIRST cosplay. so my first instinct as a first time cosplayer was to go as someone who matched my skin tone.
you don’t want to be scouring the internet for dark skinned anime characters for the rest of your cosplaying career, do you? people respect the fact that you don’t limit yourself to your skin tone if you cosplay someone you want to rather than someone that matches the color of your skin.
ive been cosplaying for 3 years now, and ive never had anyone tell me that i was wrong for cosplaying someone i want. the only comments ive gotten were compliments. and most had to do with how well i constructed my cosplay, not how i was black cosplaying someone who wasn’t.
so, (to wrap up my incesive rambling) if you want to cosplay yoruichi, cosplay yoruichi. but if you want to cosplay hatsune miku, cosplay her too. noone will think bad of you if you do. you could be a great diverse black cosplayer if you decide not to put yourself in a box.
good luck and happy cosplaying~! ^^ (sorry about it being so long, btw.)
